Racial Equity and Inclusive Excellence (REIE) Taskforce

Across our colleges, we continue to see racial opportunity gaps for Black, Indigenous, People of Color. In the most diverse state in the country, there is no excuse for inequity. It's time for California Community College leaders to take bold action to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism in our system. Together, we can actively create inclusive and equitable learning environments to help all our students succeed in the classroom & life.

Background

In the Fall of 2020, the Chief Executive Officers of the California Community Colleges (CEOCCC) established the Racial Equity and Inclusive Excellence Taskforce (REIE) to bring CEOs from across the state to work on A Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) action plan that would serve as a blueprint to achieve a number of Tier 1 DEI activities identified by the Vision for Success Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Taskforce. The REIE Taskforce’s work would include administering a survey pertaining to EEO plans system wide in order to determine areas (colleges/districts) of focus, and collaborating with different constituent groups to ensure that cross functional collaboration is achieved and that work is aligned with a single purpose. The work will culminate in a final report that will be shared with the Chancellor’s Office.
