Virtual Event
General Information

The 2021 Asilomar Leadership Skills Seminar has been canceled.

General Information

The Asilomar Leadership Skills Seminar began in 1984 and was created by leaders in the American Association of Women in Community Colleges and the Yosemite Community College District. Since 2004 the Community College League of California has sponsored the seminar and provided administrative support. This year's seminar will be held virtually due to COVID-19 and social distancing practices.

For the past 36 years, the annual Asilomar Leadership Skills Seminar has provided an exemplary professional development opportunity for approximately 2,500 diverse women from California’s community colleges. Led by outstanding California women presidents and chancellors, each class has participated in an intensive four-day program focusing on content, skills, and practical applications for being a successful leader in our colleges. Many graduates have gone on to accept leadership roles and/or career positions of increasing responsibility.

The 2021 Seminar is open to Asilomar alumni only. Class size is limited and will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis by qualified registrants. The 2021 Asilomar program will continue to focus on the unique leadership challenges, opportunities, and value women leaders bring to the table. However, an additional emphasis will be placed on the advanced skills needed for the especially challenging times of 2021. The curriculum will build on the concepts and skills developed in the introductory seminar. Additionally, each participant will have the opportunity for an individualized assessment of their career plan and their resume.
