2024 Asilomar Leadership Skills Seminar
The Community College League of California is pleased to present the 2024 Asilomar Leadership Skills Seminar. The seminar began in 1984 and was created by leaders in the American Association of Women in Community Colleges and the Yosemite Community College District. Since 2004, the Community College League of California has sponsored the seminar and provided administrative support.
The seminar is an intensive four-day experience that focuses on the issues facing women who have made a commitment to community college administration, either in their current position or as a future goal. Its purpose is to provide information, strategies, contacts, and opportunities for professional as well as personal growth. The expected outcome is that participants will be able to acquire and successfully accept expanded leadership responsibilities at their college or another California community college.
Who Should Attend
Over the past 40 years, over 2,540 competitively selected women have completed the Asilomar Leadership Skills Seminar. The seminar focuses on administrative leadership issues. However, enrollment is open to those in any leadership position including classified managers, program directors, trustees, and leaders of senates and unions. Registrations are especially welcome from colleges not previously represented at a seminar.
The setting for the seminar is the Asilomar State Conference Center, located in Pacific Grove, between Monterey and Carmel. The Center is in a beautiful wooded area adjoining a state beach. Attire should be casual and appropriate for pleasant but cool weather. All lodging and meals are provided on-site and are included in the seminar fee. Accommodations are rustic, and rooms are double occupancy. Single rooms are available for an additional fee. Registration Process: Before you begin your form, please be sure to have the following items. Specific formats will be provided when registration opens.

- Current Resume (template will be provided)
- Letter of Recommendation from one of the following: chancellor, president, vice-president, or dean
- Headshot Photo
- Participation Authorization Form signed by your president or chancellor template will be provided)
- Personal Profile Form (template will be provided)
- Acceptance Form (template will be provided)
Seminar Fee: $1,945
Includes seminar tuition, materials, meals, refreshments, and lodging. (NOTE: Full payment must be made by credit card at the time your registration is submitted. In the event your registration is declined, full payment will be refunded.)
Single Room Occupancy Additional Fee: $415
If you prefer to have your own room, please select this option during your registration. This additional fee will provide participants with a single room occupancy for their lodging.
DR. PAMILA FISHER
Dr. Pamila Fisher, founder and director of the seminar since its beginning, will serve as Seminar Director, assisted by community college chief executives and other leaders.
Dr. Fisher is Chancellor Emeritus of the Yosemite Community College District and past-president of AACC, AAWCJC, and CACC. She was Facilitator for AACC’s Future Leadership Institutes for ten years and consults widely for individual colleges, districts, and systems in areas related to leadership, diversity and cultural proficiency, communications and team building. Dr. Fisher also conducts presidential searches and board retreats as an associate of the Association of Community College Trustees.
Over the years, more than 50 community college leaders have served as presenters. The presenters and participants together have created an Asilomar network that provides ongoing support for effective leadership in California's community colleges.
